Laboratoire sur les Vulnérabilités et l'Innovation dans le Sport (L-ViS - UR 7428) The Laboratoire sur les Vulnérabilités et l'Innovation dans le Sport (L-VIS) comprises 30 teacher-researchers, 31 doctoral students and around 20 associate members. It is a research team attached to the UFR Sciences et Techniques des Activités Physiques et Sportives (STAPS) of Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1. The L-VIS project is to develop interdisciplinary research into the phenomenon of sport within the field of Human and Social Sciences (SHS). This involves scientific disciplines such as sociology, law, marketing and management sciences, history and psychology. This multi-disciplinary approach is applied to two unifying themes: vulnerability and innovation in relation to physical activity and sport. L-VIS is attached to the STAPS UFR of Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, to the Education, Psychology, Information and Communication doctoral school (n° 485 EPIC) and is associated with the Maison des Sciences de l'Homme Lyon Saint-Étienne (MSH-LSE).

UFR Sciences and Techniques of Physical and Sports Activities By their very nature, Physical and Sports Activities require essentially multidisciplinary teaching and research. STAPS courses cover both basic sciences (biomechanics, functional anatomy, neuroscience, psychology, didactics, tribology, history, economics, physiology, sociology, etc.) and physical and sporting activities (athletics, swimming, gymnastics, team sports, outdoor activities, etc.). The aim of STAPS training and research in Lyon is to develop interdisciplinarity, enabling specialists from different fields to work closely together on the same projects.
Since 2004, the Equality Mission, which became the Equality-Diversity Mission in 2016, has been working to promote equality between men and women and to combat all forms of discrimination within the University. It ensures that the dimension of equality between women and men, the fight against discrimination, and non-stereotyped communication and actions are integrated into the institution's thinking, projects and actions. The Mission Égalité - Diversité also works to prevent and raise awareness of sexist, homophobic and transphobic violence.
